Reliable Cryogenic Trunnion and Floating Ball Valves for Extreme Conditions

When systems run at temperatures at or many times below -50*C --58°F, standard valves are not enough. You need specially designed cryogenic trunnion ball valves and cryogenic ball valves that can handle extreme cold without failure.

At Keystone Valve Supply, we provide customers with high-quality cryogenic valve solutions for demanding industries such as LNG, LOX, LN2 for gas processing, petrochemical, and industrial gas storage. We are the Official manufacturer’s Representative, and work closely with (Microfinish ) The Manufacturer.

Our cryogenic solutions are designed for safety, strength, and long service life in very low temperature environments.

Cryogenic Trunnion Ball Valves for High-Pressure Performance

Our cryogenic trunnion ball valves are designed for larger pipe sizes and higher pressures where stability is critical.

Specifications:

  • NPS 2” – 36”
  • ANSI 150 – 900 (standard range)
  • ANSI 150 – 2500 (available configurations)
  • Temperatures down to -321°F
  • RF, RTJ, and BWE end connections
  • Materials: Stainless Steel, Duplex

These cryogenic ball valves are ideal for:

  • LNG plants
  • NGL & Fractionation
  • LPG Storage
  • Cryogenic storage tanks and terminals
  • Air separation units

The extended bonnet design allows for heat transfer and results in a steep temperature gradient from the Cryogenic service. This protects the stem seals from extreme cold. This prevents leaks and improves safety.

Cryogenic Floating Ball Valves for Flexible Applications

For smaller sizes and varied pressure ratings, cryogenic floating ball valves provide a dependable solution.

Specifications:

  • NPS 1/2” – 10”
  • ANSI 150 – 2500
  • RF, RTJ, and Weld Ends
  • Witness tested to -321°F per BS 6364
  • API 6D & CSA Z245.15 compliant

In floating designs, the ball is not fixed in place. It moves slightly and uses line pressure to press against the downstream seat, creating a tight seal.

These cryogenic floating ball valves are commonly used in:

  • Process lines
  • Skid systems
  • Storage transfer lines
  • Industrial gas systems

Each cryogenic valve is built and tested to meet strict low-temperature standards. Testing ensures proper sealing, smooth operation, and structural strength.

Why Cryogenic Valves Need Special Design

Extreme cold changes how metal behaves. Materials can shrink and become brittle. A standard valve may crack or leak.

Cryogenic valve features include:

  • Extended bonnet to protect the packing
  • Special seat materials for low temperature
  • Fire-safe construction
  • Blowout-proof stems
  • Heavy-duty body design

Both cryogenic trunnion ball valves and cryogenic floating ball valves are designed to handle these challenges safely.

Industries That Depend on Cryogenic Ball Valves

Cryogenic systems are critical. A small leak can cause serious problems. That is why high-quality cryogenic ball valves are required in:

  • LNG production and transport
  • Chemical processing
  • Energy facilities
  • Offshore and onshore gas plants
  • Industrial gas manufacturing

Keystone Valve Supply works with the Manufacturer to provide compliant and tested cryogenic valve solutions that meet project requirements.

Materials Built for Low Temperatures

Material selection is key in any cryogenic valve application.

Common body materials include:

  • Stainless Steel
  • Duplex Stainless Steel

These materials maintain strength and resist cracking at very low temperatures. Proper material selection helps extend service life and reduce maintenance.

Standards and Testing for Peace of Mind

Every cryogenic valve we supply meets strict industry standards:

  • API 6D
  • CSA Z245.15
  • BS 6364 low-temperature testing (for floating ball valves)

Testing to -321°F ensures the valve performs as expected in real-world cryogenic conditions.
